Wii Booklet bio:
This young surgeon is the main character of the game. He grew up in
Northridge, a suburb just outside of Angeles Bay. Derek decided to
become a doctor after losing his father to an incurable illness. He just
completed his residency, and he's eager to start operating as a
full-time surgeon. However, Dr. Stiles is about to learn that there's
more to saving lives than good intentions.

Without playing the first game, Derek struck me as a
serious character. On the front cover of Under the Knife, he
stood with a serious expression, and his hand outstretched. He looked a
little angry. But upon playing the game, it hit me. Derek was a slightly
childish, laid-back, irresponsible guy. When receiving the news that
he'd be performing an operation, he replied with something along the
lines of, "M-me? But... I was about to do my rounds..." As the
game progresses, he starts to grow up, realizing he has to take his job
a lot more seriously than he had before.
